As the Internet began to develop as a mass media delivery system, traditional news and information outlets quickly began to notice the erosion in their consumers. Today, that erosion has led to a “wild west” environment of new vehicles and sources for not only information but misinformation.

As we “meet the new journalists”, we’ll take a closer look at the new media landscape companies and organizations are facing, and how it is changing even now. Traditional outlets are trying to adapt, but they are being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of competition from these new sources. The gatekeepers are effectively gone, and as a result, we've sprouted our own version of a societal "Big Brother".

Attendees will take away:

  • A better sense of the new environment of media immersion
  • The importance of learning how to become media-savvy, and always at the ready.
  • Methods for becoming pro-active and taking control of your own information filter.

Jay Rickerts, RMA's lead trainer, has been a broadcast reporter and anchor for more than 25 years.
